Brazil to pioneer in 5G standalone in Latin America

If Chile got a head start with the first 5G technology auction in Latin America, Brazil is expected to be the first to
offer the “pure” standard – or 5G standalone. This landmark in regional telephony was highlighted by Vinicius
Dalben, Ericsson’s new CEO for Latin America’s Southern Cone, in a conversation with Valor. At the opening ceremony, the “pure 5G” technology signal was activated by President Jair Bolsonaro. Communications Minister Fábio Faria that this was the first of 20 pilot experiences with the standard across the country.
