Bank credit accumulates $818 bn in first year of pandemic

The granting of credit by Brazilian banks reached a record in the first year of the coronavirus pandemic. A survey by the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) based on Central Bank data shows that the balance between March 2020 and March 2021 was R$4.5 trillion ($818 bn), an average of R$347.3 billion ($63 bn) per month.
