Brazil’s inclusion in OECD could raise GDP per capita by 0.4% per year

A study released by Ipea projects a 0.4% growth in per capita GDP per year with Brazil’s eventual entry into the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). If Brazil’s application is accepted and confirmed, the capital flow stimuli should boost foreign trade activity. The expected economic growth is approximately $7 billion annually in generation of goods and services.

EDP Brasil targets to have 1 GW in solar plants in Brazil by 2025

EDP Brasil, part of European group EDP Energias de Portugal, is aiming to reach 2025 with solar plants in operation in Brazil that add up to 1 gigawatt in capacity, a company director said Monday during an online event with investors. The electric company’s plans would represent a strong advance in the renewable source, as EDP Brazil currently has only 50 megawatts in operational solar installations in Latin America’s largest country.

Biodiesel auction turns over $1.05 bn

The 79th biodiesel auction negotiated 1.05 billion litres, with the average price reaching R$5.536 ($1.00) per litre, resulting in a total negotiated value of 5.82 billion litres, informed the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). The ANP announcement confirms information from the industry, which pointed out last week that the auction price had had an increase of about 17% over the previous round.

Soybean production in Brazil increases by 8.6%

Increased planted area, favourable weather and higher productivity may be behind the jump in production. The harvest of the world’s largest producer and exporter of oilseeds should increase by 8.6% this year compared to last year, which was already a record, reaching 135.5 million tonnes, according to the National Supply Company (Conab).
