Brazil has stopped exporting $56.2 bn to South America in 10 years

The loss of space in regional trade in the last decade made Brazil stop exporting $56.2 billion to South America in the last ten years. The conclusion is contained in a survey conducted by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). According to the study, Brazil’s share in imports from other South American countries (Brazilian exports to neighbouring countries) fell from 14.5% in 2010 to 10.7% in 2019.

BNDES reaches agreement with Economy to return $20.7 bn to the Treasury

BNDES has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Economy to return R$62 billion ($11 bn) to the Treasury by the end of this year and a further R$54.2 billion ($9.6 bn) in 2022, said the development bank, which aims to zero out its liabilities by next year. According to BNDES, the current remaining balance with the Treasury is about R$116 billion ($20.7 bn). In March, BNDES had already made an early settlement of R$38 billion ($6.7 bn).
