Volvo, Scania to follow VW and scale down production

After Volkswagen, the Swedish carmakers Volvo and Scania announced measures to reduce operations due to the worsening of the pandemic. Volvo will reduce by 70% the production of trucks at its Curitiba plant as of this Tuesday and should remain so until the end of the month. Scania will stop production at its ABC Paulista plant from March 26 to April 5. The reason is the high level of instability in the supply chain – global and local – of parts, mainly semiconductors, combined with the worsening of the pandemic, said Volvo.
