Mergers and acquisitions in Brazil fall 27% in January

The Brazilian market recorded 68 mergers and acquisitions in January, of which 39 had their values disclosed, totalling R$56.3 billion ($10.5 bn), a volume moved 27% lower than in the same month last year. According to the survey, the busiest sector in the first month of the year was technology, maintaining a trend started in 2019, but with a 9% drop in total transactions.

Investments in startups exceed $630 mn in January

According to a study by Inside Venture Capital Brazil, the volume of investments in startups in Brazil in January exceeded $630 mm, representing 18% of the total invested in the whole of 2020. Of the 41 deals made in the first month of the year, the contribution received by Nubank alone accounted for almost 60% of the total volume of capital invested in the ecosystem.

Credit falls 8% in the first month of this year, but rises 22% compared to 2020

The rate that measures the search for financing in Brazil grew 22% in January compared to the same month of 2020, reports Neurotech. However, the Neurotech Index of Demand for Credit (INDC) closed the first month of 2021 with a drop of 8% compared to December last year. The services sector led the demand for credit in January compared to the same month of 2020, by showing expansion of 62%.
