Ibama closes $29 mn deal with Norte Energia on Belo Monte flow

The Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) has signed an agreement with Norte Energia, the concessionaire of the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam, regarding the flow of the plant. According to statement, Belo Monte has accepted all the additional measures established by Ibama and is expected to invest R$157 million ($29 mm) in programmes to minimise the impacts of the reduced flow stretch of the Xingu, where the plant is located.
