Plastic recycling rate in the country grew by 8.5%

The post-consumer plastics recycling rate in the country stood at 24% in 2019, an increase of 8.5% compared to the previous year. Post-consumer plastics are the plastic material discarded in residential homes and in places such as shopping malls, commercial establishments and offices. According to the study, in 2019, the last year with consolidated data, 838,000 tonnes of recycled plastics were produced.

BNDES anticipates payment of $7 bn to the Treasury

The Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) will anticipate the settlement of debts with the National Treasury with the payment of R$ 38 billion ($7 bn). According to the bank, the release will occur in the coming weeks, as soon as the necessary legal procedures are carried out. Itaú’s profit drops 34.6% in 2020

Itau Unibanco recorded a 34.6% drop in last year’s profit compared to 2019, to R$18.5 billion ($3.4 bn) discounting extraordinary items. In the fourth quarter the decline was 26.1% to R$5.4 billion ($1 bn) when comparing the results of the country’s largest bank. Itau Unibanco is the first bank among the major banks to disclose its 2020 earnings.

Farm management startup, increase 32% in revenue in 2020

The pandemic has accelerated digitisation in the field and even in a very atypical year, the digital farming startups have shown good growth. Farmbox, farm management software, had a 40% increase in turnover from new sales and 35% in the active customer base – 32% in total gross income. This expansion was also the result of the increase in monitored hectares from 1.2 million to 2 million hectares.
