Extrema implements 2 MW waste gasification plant to generate energy

This month, the implementation of a thermochemical power plant, based on the gasification of solid urban waste, began in Extrema, Minas Gerais. With an investment of R$ 50 million ($9.3 mm), the plant will be able to treat 85 tons per day of solid waste generated daily by the city and from rubbish to be dug up from the municipal landfill. The plant’s installed capacity will be 2 MW and its energy will be injected into the grid to generate compensation credits for discounting Extrema’s public buildings.
