The Central Bank closed the second half of 2020 with a loss of R$ 70.826 billion ($13.6 bn) in its foreign exchange operations. This amount will be covered by the so-called “foreign exchange income reserve”, created in 2019. This dynamic is part of the new relationship established between the Central Bank and the National Treasury, through Law 13.820.

Klabin raises $500mn in sustainable bonds
With the lowest yield in the company’s history for a ten-year international bond, Klabin today closed a $500 million issue of sustainable-linked bonds – debt securities linked to sustainable targets to be met by the group. The yield and coupon, which had the same rate, were 3.20% per year. Demand was also strong: over ten times the volume raised.

Copel applied $98mn in generation and transmission in 2020
Copel has allocated R$ 511 million ($98 mm) to its power generation and transmission segment throughout 2020. According to the company, the resources were invested in the construction of new power plants, transmission lines and power substations. In addition, the company invested in expansions, reinforcements and modernisation of existing facilities.

Petrobras confirms LPG readjustment by 6%
Petrobras confirmed the first increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) this year, in the order of 6%, after having readjusted it by 5% on 3 December. The increase, valid from Thursday, 7, follows the rise in the price of oil on the international market, which on Wednesday closed at $54.30 a barrel Brent type. In 2020, the rise in LPG was 21.9%.

MRV concludes sale of venture in US for $57 mm
MRV reported that it completed the sale of the Deering Groves development in Miami with a general sale value (GV) of $57 million. The asset is expected to generate cash of $21 million, based on projected operating profit after 12 months of stabilisation. This is the first sale of a venture of MRV’s US subsidiary, AHS Residential.
