Chamber approves third round of Pronampe with $2bn to SME’s

The Chamber approved the project that makes the third phase of Pronampe possible. The proposal, which has already been approved by the Senate, goes for presidential sanction. The Pronampe was created in May with the aim of rescuing SME’s through loans with lower interest rates. The unused resources are around R$10 billion ($2 bn).

BNDES approves $52mm to finance a generic medicines production

The BNDES approved funding of R$264 million ($52 mm) for the Prati-Donaduzzi pharmaceutical industry. Based in the city of Toledo, Paraná, the company is the largest manufacturer of generic drugs in Brazil. The funds will be used to modernise and expand the plant’s production capacity, as well as to build a distribution centre, which will increase generic production on the national market by around five billion therapeutic doses.

Illegal wood seized by PRF this year exceeds by 95% that of 2019

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized almost twice as much illegal timber as in 2019. The Federal Police (PF) confiscated the equivalent of R$ 427.7 million ($85 mm) from groups or people caught committing some type of environmental crime – a figure 81% higher than that collected for the same reasons in 2019. According to the PRF’s director general, Eduardo Aggio, more than 36,997,000 m3 of illegal wood were seized from federal highways from January to November of this year.

Impact of covid on public accounts amounts to $124bn

The Ministry of Economy has released an analysis of the fiscal impact of the measures to confront covid-19. Official data show that R$620.5 billion ($124 bn) is the sum of the impact on the primary result. According to the ministry, the measures to increase spending total R$594.2 billion ($118.8 bn), while those to reduce revenues reach R$26.2 billion ($5.2 bn).

Enel Green Power achieves 103.5 MW commercial operation in solar power

The ANEEL has released the start of commercial operation in Enel Green Power solar parks. At UFV São Gonçalo 8, the generating units were UG1 to UG 202, which total 34.5 MW. At UFVs São Gonçalo 11 and São Gonçalo 12, the release also went to units UG1 to UG 202, with another 34.5 MW each park. The solar complex is located in the city of São Gonçalo da Gurgueia, in Piauí.
