The IPEA released the Monthly Gross Fixed Capital Formation Indicator (GFCF) for the month of September, which registered an increase of 3.5% compared to August. Compared to September 2019, there was a 1.1% increase in investments. GFCF comprises machinery and equipment, civil construction and other fixed assets.

End of $1.7bn litigation reopens electricity market
The Aneel defined on Tuesday the last details of the proposal, awaited by the sector for at least five years, to end litigation motivated by power generators that refused to shoulder losses related to production at levels below those stablished in contract. In 2015, generators began a war of lawsuits that is currently locking up about R$9 billion ($1.7 bn) in financial settlements at the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE).

Brazilian agribusiness GDP to grow 3% in 2021
The GDP of Brazilian agribusiness will grow 3% in 2021, while the Gross Value of Agricultural Production (GVP) will increase 4.2% next year, estimated the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA). The Confederation considered that there are climate concerns for the main crops that can adjust the supply of grains.

Energy Development Account for 2021 is estimated at $4.6 bn
Aneel opened public consultation to discuss the proposed budget for the Energy Development Account (EDC), whose preliminary value is R$24.1 billion ($4.6 bn). According to the agency, the proposal is equivalent to a reduction of 1.4%. This reduction was motivated by the effects of Provisional Measure 998/2020, which defined a new source of revenue for the CDE, using resources from R&D and energy efficiency programmes that were not executed or committed.

TAG to invest $288 mm in 5 years
Transportadora Associada de Gás (TAG) will invest R$ 1.5 billion ($288 mm) over the next 5 years, with a large part of its resources in projects to support the opening of the gas market in Brazil. Another part will be used to maintain the safety and integrity of operations, a segment that this year consumed R$140 million ($26 mm), compared to the R$15 million ($2.8 mm) invested by the company in 2019.
