National tourism lost R$41.6 billion ($7.7 bn) between March and September 2020, the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. The amount represents a 44% drop in revenues compared to the same period last year, according to a survey by FecomercioSP. The retraction is mainly driven by the air transport sector.

Elera invests $740 mm to double installed capacity in Brazil
Among the new investments of the ex-Brookfield Energia Renovável is the largest 1.2 GW solar photovoltaic plant to be installed in the country. Elera Renováveis, the new name for Brookfield Energia Renovável’s Brazilian operations, will invest R$4 billion ($740 mm) by 2023 to more than double its installed capacity of renewable energy in the country, reaching 3.3 GW.

EDF obtains commercial clearance for wind turbines in Bahia
The National Electrical Energy Agency has decided on the commercial operation of two wind turbines in the Ventos de São Januário 05 park, adding 8.4 MW of installed capacity in the municipality of Campo Formoso (BA), in a project awarded to EDF Renewables in Brazil.
