The Ipea Apparent Consumption of Industrial Goods Indicator advanced 5.9% compared to July. Compared to August 2019, however, there was a contraction of 7.6. Consumption of domestic goods rose 3.1% in August compared to July, while that of imported goods advanced 9.8%.

CNC projects 4.8% drop in sales for Children’s Day
The National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC) projects a 4.8% drop in sales for Children’s Day, celebrated on 12 October. According to the survey, this is the first contraction after four years. According to the CNC, the date is the third most important for the national retail sector, only behind Christmas and Mother’s Day.

Agrobusiness leads job creation in Brazil
Agriculture and livestock are leading the way in generating new jobs in 2020, with 98,320 jobs from January to August. The agricultural and construction sectors are the only ones with a positive balance for the year. São Paulo, with an expansion of 66,235 jobs, was the state with the best results in 2020, followed by Minas Gerais (+8,585 jobs).

Siemens buys 49% of Brasol
Siemens announced the acquisition of 49% of Brasol Participações e Empreendimentos, a distributed solar generation company focused on large consumers and with an Energy As a Service (EaaS) business model. The investment was made by the private equity area, Siemens Financial Services. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Azul has a daily cash generation of $125 thousand
The Azul airline announced that it had a cash increase of around R$700,000 ($125 k) per day in the third quarter, which helped it maintain its financial liquidity position in the face of the crisis generated by the effects of Covid-19. Initially, the forecast was for cash consumption of approximately R$3 million ($535 k) per day over the second half.
