RED classifies Brazilian ethanol as one of the most GHG reducing fuels

Brazilian sugarcane ethanol is recognised as a biofuel to promote renewable energy. This means that Brazilian ethanol is one of the most greenhouse gas (GHG) reducing fuels compared to fossil fuels. This classification is given through the Renewable Energy Directive (RED), an environmental directive on renewable energy and which forms part of European Union legislation.
