Shortage of internet access is a barrier to digital agriculture for 61% of producers

The lack of connectivity infrastructure in rural areas is still the main obstacle today for the development of digital agriculture, according to 61.4% of professionals in the area, says a survey by Embrapa, Sebrae and Inpe. The survey was conducted with more than 750 rural producers, companies and service providers, in all states plus the Federal District (DF).

BYD launches $1.2 mm photovoltaic plant in Campinas

BYD inaugurated in Campinas (SP) its first photovoltaic plant exclusively focused on research and development (R&D) in Brazil. With an investment of R$ 7 million ($1.2 mm) in equipment, the unit was built within the 4.0 industry concept. According to the company, the solar farm has a complete weather station and will have a capacity of 500 kW, which will be generated from a wide range of technologies in photovoltaic modules

Harvest in Brazil reaches 64.9 million hectares in 2020

Brazilian producers are expected to harvest 64.9 million hectares in the 2020, an increase of 2.6% compared to 2019. The data are from IBGE and the result represents more 1.7 million hectares in one year. Rice, corn and soy are the three main products of this group and, added together, represented 92.2% of the estimated production and accounted for 87.1% of the area to be harvested.

New stock market will focus on social impact startups

The entrepreneurs of Banco Maré (RJ) want to create a new stock exchange in the country, ending a long monopoly of B3, but with a different approach: social and environmental impact startups (ESG).
