Renewable energy certificates (RECs) are expected to reach five million emissions by the end of the year. There are currently 110 plants able to generate certificates. In May of this year, 1.5 million RECs have been issued.

Deforestation in the Amazon reduces corn productivity in Brazil by 10%
Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon and the adjacent biome, the Cerrado, may be harming regional corn yields, according to a new study released. The researchers linked deforestation to a 5-10% reduction in corn yields in most of Mato Grosso, the Brazilian state that produces the majority of grains.

Petrobras breaks record of 664,000 barrels per day
Petrobras informed, in a statement to the market, that the P-74 to P-77 platforms of “Campo de Búzios” reached record production, on June 27, of 664 thousand barrels of oil per day and 822 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. The Búzios Field is in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

Energy sector funds $934 mm in infrastructure debentures
The energy sector was responsible for 7 of the 12 debenture issues stimulated between January and May of this year, according to the latest issue of the Ministry of Economy’s newsletter. The volume of funds involved in these operations reached R$4.95 billion, ($934 mm) according to the publication released.

Agricultural Front to debate new Brazilian Agribusiness Law
The Parliamentary Front of Agriculture will promote, on Thursday, a new debate on the Law of Agriculture focused on the issue of Rural Credit Notes and Equalisation of Interest. The issue and electronic transactions of Agro securities have already been discussed; the changes to the Rural Product Certificate (CPR); and agribusiness bonds. In February, the House of Representatives approved a provisional measure (MP 897/19), which gave rise to the Agro Law.
