Renewable energy certificates (RECs) are expected to reach five million emissions by the end of the year. There are currently 110 plants able to generate certificates. In May of this year, 1.5 million RECs have been issued.
Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon and the adjacent biome, the Cerrado, may be harming regional corn yields, according to a new study released. The researchers linked deforestation to a 5-10% reduction in corn yields in most of Mato Grosso, the Brazilian state that produces the majority of grains.

Petrobras informed, in a statement to the market, that the P-74 to P-77 platforms of “Campo de Búzios” reached record production, on June 27, of 664 thousand barrels of oil per day and 822 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. The Búzios Field is in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

The volume of funds involved in these operations reached R$4.95 billion, ($934 mm) according to the publication released.

The Parliamentary Front of Agriculture will promote, on Thursday, a new debate on the Law of Agriculture focused on the issue of Rural Credit Notes and Equalisation of Interest. The issue and electronic transactions of Agro securities have already been discussed; the changes to the Rural Product Certificate (CPR); and agribusiness bonds. In February, the House of Representatives approved a provisional measure (MP 897/19), which gave rise to the Agro Law.

BNDES is planning to hold 3 privatisation auctions in the sanitation sector by the end of the year: The water and sewage concessions in Alagoas and Rio de Janeiro, and the PPP (public-private partnership) in the city of Cariacica (ES). The estimate is R$36 billions ($6.8 bn) of investment throughout the concession in the areas that will be granted to the private initiative.
The Nuclear Power Plant Angra 2 has touched a historic milestone. The unit that entered into commercial operation in 2001 reached an accumulated production of 200 million MWh, on the 19th of June. The plant generated energy for 13 months continuously. The capacity factor – energy generated by the unit compared to its capacity – was 99.43% during this period.

Petrobras received another R$265.1 million ($50 mm) as a result of a leniency agreement. This time, the agreement was signed by Technip Brasil and Flexibras, companies of the Technip Group. Thus, the total funds returned to the company exceeded the amount of R$4.5 billion ($849 mm), as a result of the investigations of Car Wash Operation.
The Central Bank of Brazil reported that companies and families obtained loans of R$289 billion ($55 mm) from banks in May. There was a reduction of 3.3% in relation to April. In the accumulated result for the year, total concessions grew by 7.6% compared to the period in 2019, reflecting the increase in corporations (17.7%) and the decrease in individuals (0.9%).
A survey by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Tenants (Alshop), carried out between June 24th and 26th, found that sales dropped 90% which affects one third of merchants in the state of São Paulo due to the effects of the pandemic. The value obtained by sales was reduced by up to 80% for 41% of the retailers and by up to 70% for 24% of them.
