According to Fred Arruda, Ambassador of Brazil to the UK, the Amazon biome is 84% intact and having peaked after 2012, deforestation rates fell by 72 per cent over the last 15 years. The Ambassador added that Brazil regenerated in the Amazon an area larger than Scotland and replanted forests covering an area the size of Wales. Furthermore, he wrote that “Brazil is on track to meet its Paris Agreement nationally determined contribution (NDC)”.
